My story and my "Stalker Card"
I've been drawn to cards since I was a little girl, when my grandfather would play with me using Neapolitan playing cards and have them answer the questions we asked. The real turning point came 13 years ago. At that moment it was The Tower, my true stalker card, that gave me the decisive push for my big leap of faith: tearing down every certainty and moving to the United Kingdom with no job, no guarantees and a lot of fog ahead of me, guided only by the need to truly listen to myself.
The Tower speaks of real life, of things that are real, alive and present in our everyday lives. It speaks of that reinforced-concrete coat we build around ourselves, layer after layer, mistaking a prison for our comfort zone. Inside it we tell ourselves we're "fine", convinced there are no other options, until that shell becomes a sarcophagus that won't let us breathe.
To me, The Tower is a powerful wake-up call: it tells you to stop settling for a space that has become too small for you. It asks you for the courage to set that structure on fire and step outside, even if there's fog all around and you can't yet see clearly where your feet will land. That's how it was for me when I chose to start again from scratch here in England, and that's how I live it today: a card that demands a real sacrifice, one that doesn't ask you to pick off the rotten apple, but to cut down the whole tree when it no longer nourishes you. Because sooner or later, The Tower falls anyway: it's up to us whether we bring it down consciously to set ourselves free, or wait for it to collapse on top of us.
